Personal Alcohol Breathalyser
Sober Check SC3000 Performance Precautions.
-
State of the Art Componentary: The system uses a highly accurate semi-conductor oxide sensor which has an unprecedented level of accuracy – this is a margin of error of +/-.01% at the blood alcohol level of .10%. This is the highest level achievable for alcohol testing.
- Unit Calibration: The unit is calibrated to NZ standards and we have included a ‘buffer’ zone to ensure a ‘fail’ registration under the legal limit. The NZ legal limit is 400 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath and the SC3000 will register a level of 400 when the user’s breath alcohol level is actually at 325 micrograms.
- NZ Police Unit Calibration:
Remembering that the legal limit is 400 micrograms per litre of breath, the NZ Police units are calibrated to register a ‘FAIL’ reading at a level around 440 micrograms. This is because they need to be certain when they register a user’s breath-alcohol level roadside that the driver is definitely over the legal limit. There is a time delay from roadside measure to being tested within the station and in the time breath-alcohol levels will often reduce. Hence the Police build in a buffer to ensure the user is over the legal limit.
- Extensive NZ Testing: Sober Check has undertaken extensive testing against the Police units, had the product successfully tested by ESR NZ (Institute of Environmental Science and Research Ltd) – who also do the testing for the Police units. ESR have completed a preliminary and full test on the SC3000 and have confirmed the product’s accuracy and its correct calibration.
International Product Certification: The Department of Transportation in the US and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are acknowledged as the most stringent body for alcohol testing and product certification. These associations have both certified the SC3000 for use within the U.S.
-
Product Functionality: Once the user reaches the level of 300 micrograms, the machine generates a high pitched beep and corresponding illumination of the red warning light. Sober Check NZ Ltd also adds a sticker to the back of the product outlining what the exact legal limits are for New Zealand and add an additional precaution for users.
